Mary Roehl Meyer

Mary Roehl Meyer, 86, of Missoula Montana, passed away Wednesday, Sept 14, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born September 8, 1936, in New Leipzig, North Dakota to Sam and Lydia Roehl and was the eighth of twelve children. In New Leipzig they lived on a farm and Mary loved being outside riding pigs, playing with her siblings and cousins, and helping with the farm. To her last day she felt most at home in North Dakota.

Keith C. Hanson, 48, of Bismarck, passed away September 22, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at St. Michael’s Traditional Roman Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. May as celebrant.

John Verworn

John Verworn

John Verworn passed away on September 15, 2022, in Plano, Texas. He was born on the family homestead north of New Leipzig, ND on June 24, 1942, to John and Emma (Sprecher) Verworn. There were many stories of working on the farm and taking a buggy to a one room schoolhouse. He graduated from the University of North Dakota, where he and wife Phyllis started dating. His career started with International Harvester in the farm equipment division, moving to heavy mining then road construction equipment. Through the years the company changed to Dresser, Komatsu and then leaving to join Compaction America. Work moved him all over the United States including ND, CO, MN, IL, OH, and TX in various management roles, taking him around the globe and introducing different cultures to his family. He earned his MBA from the Lake Forest School of Management.

Gertrude Mae (Bentz) Ottmar passed from this life on September 22, 2022, at the Jacobson Mermorial Care Center in Elgin at the age of 90 years, 3 months, 20 days. Funeral services for Gertrude M. Ottmar of Elgin will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin. Pastor Bethany Haberstroh will officiate with burial to follow at the Zion Cemetery in Elgin.
