THE 53rd ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST

THE 53rd ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST

was held this weekend in New Leipzig. Despite rainy, cool weather, the turnout was fantastic with record-breaking crowds for the Annual Firemen’s dinner. Because of the weather, some events were cancelled, but that didn’t stop the celebration. Colorful umbrellas lined the street for the parade, and the Community Center was filled to the brim with people enjoying fantastic company and food, and the group pictured above was ready to celebrate their German heritage! Pictured are Cheryl Riedel, Carol Sandvik, Val Roth, Perry Roth, Terry Sivertson, and Karen Sivertson.

Ambulance driver training planned

Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center and the New Leipzig-Elgin Ambulance Service will hold an emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC) for ambulance drivers starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in Elgin. Anyone interested in being an ambulance driver is encouraged to attend the training, which will begin at the JMHCC conference room.
