Linda White

Linda Jean (Dachtler) White of Elgin, ND passed away on July 29, 2022, at Jacobson Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. Linda was born on August 3, 1943, to Ervin and Alma (Neumann) Dachtler in Elgin, ND. She attended school and graduated from Elgin in 1961. She then attended the National School of Business in Rapid City, SD. She was then employed as a receptionist in Bismarck and later as a stenographer. She then moved to Montana and was married in 1970. She is the mother of six children and one step son. She moved her family back to Elgin in 1976 where she worked at Jacobsen Memorial Hospital. Linda wore many hats and gained many friendships along her journey.

Linda loved sharing her giant platters of Christmas goodies. Baking/cooking was her forte. She also loved watching sports; you could find Linda sitting in her chair with the volume cranked watching her Minnesota Vikings and Twins. The Hallmark channel was also on the top of Linda’s list, although each show was predictable she never missed a single one. Beyond her TV and baking, her heart was always with her family especially her children. If you were privileged enough to know Linda you knew you had a lifelong friend. Linda’s big smile and laugh were sure to stick with anyone she met. Linda definitely did it “her way”!

She is survived by her step-son, Doug White and sons and daughters-in-law, Steve White, Lynn and DeNean White, Walter and Amy White and Shawn and Amanda White; sonin- law, Dan Rowland; her sisters, Marilyn (Richard) Gunsch, Evelyn Dachtler, Vickie (Bob) Gillen and Julie Young; numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Daughter, Marvalyn Rowland and Son, Marvin White.

Services were held Friday, August 5 at Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin, ND at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bethany Haberstroh, officiating. Inurnment was held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
