LaDonna Rose Barbara (Skalsky) Schatz was born December 18, 1937 in Glen Ullin, ND to Elizabeth (Fibiger) and Frank Skalsky, Sr. She attended Catholic school and graduated from Glen Ullin High School.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Schatz on March 25, 1956, in Glen Ullin. In 1957, LaDonna and Kenneth moved to their farmstead near Lake Tschida in Elgin, ND. Over the years on the farm, LaDonna had a large garden and helped everyday milking cows, feeding calves, and taking care of her cats and dogs.

LaDonna, better known as Donna, loved to read and play cards with family, her favorite games being Hand and Foot (no cheating Kay!) and Queens. In her earlier years, she refinished furniture, embroidered, and crocheted. Donna crocheted blankets for every one of her children and grandchildren. Donna was active in the United Methodist Church, enjoyed bible study and fellowship.

Everyone who knew Donna, knew that she enjoyed cleaning, dusting away every Saturday afternoon, and dancing a good jig to Don Williams and Neil Sedaka. Her house was spotless, and everyone knew that the five second rule never applied at Grandma’s house. In her later years, Donna read books and more books, plus doing puzzles, and finishing a good Find a Word.

She leaves behind her four children: Kirby (JoAnn) Schatz of Elgin, Kerry Schatz and significant other Shannan Senger of Hazen, Kay (Monty) Mayer of Hazen and Kelly (Mark) Jennings of Washburn. Her nine beautiful granddaughters, Dr. Bethanie (Joe) Quinn of Hastings, MN, Lindsay (Ryan) Borlaug of Hazen, Abby (Dylan) Berger of Bismarck, Jordan (Mark) Bresnahan of Grand Forks, Jacey Mayer of Dickinson, Madelyn, Molly, Maggie, and Mae Jennings of Washburn along with great grand children, Amelia, Anna, and James Quinn of Hastings, MN and Paxton, Pike and Presley Borlaug of Hazen, ND.

LaDonna is survived by her sister, Joyce (John) Perman of Oroville, CA along with many nieces and nephews.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her parents Elizabeth and Frank Skalsky, Sr. along with two sisters, Adeline Tibor and Diane Miller and one brother, Frank Skalsky, Jr.
