Edna Klein
Funeral services for Edna Klein, age 97, of Mandan, ND (formerly of Elgin, ND) were held Tuesday, May 24 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ located north of Elgin. Pastor Tammy Toepke-Floyd (Great Niece to Edna) officiated with burial in the Ebenezer UCC Cemetery north of Elgin.

Edna Haberstroh was born June 25, 1924 at Willa, ND to Karl and Elizabeth (Kirsch) Haberstroh. She lost her mother at the age of two, leaving her father and older siblings to raise her on the family farm in Willa.
On June 12, 1947, Edna married Edmund Klein in Mott, ND. They enjoyed 60 years of married life and together they raised four children: Lloyd, Harlan, Beverly and Margie.
In September 1951, they purchased a farm north of Elgin where they farmed and ranched together and continued to expand their farm operation.
Edna was an excellent cake decorator. She made many wedding cakes for young couples in the community. Edna also took pride in her cooking. She cooked many feasts for friends and relatives that came to visit.
Edna enjoyed gardening and canning. She also was an avid quilter and did beautiful embroidery. She spent many evenings gathering with friends to play cards and listen to old time music. Edna and Edmund enjoyed attending local polka fests and dancing.
Following the passing of Edmund in 2007, Edna moved to Bismarck, ND. After her health declined, Edna moved to Edgewood assisted living in Mandan and then to the Sunset Prospera nursing home in Mandan.
Edna passed from this life on the morning of Friday, May 20, 2022, at Sunset Prospera nursing home in Mandan, ND at the age of 97. Just one month shy of her 98 th birthday.
Blessed for having shared her life are her four children: Lloyd (Glenda) Klein of Bismarck, ND, Harlan (Sharon) Klein of Elgin, ND, Beverly (Daryl) Stieg of Mandan, ND, and Margie (Ron) Herner of Mott, ND. Seven grandchildren: Julie Kautzmann (Eugene Graner) of Bismarck, ND, Karyn (Robert) Finneseth of Durango, CO, Joel (Brittnay) Klein of Elgin, ND, Shannon (Nick) Guarcello of Mandan, ND, Cody (Erin) Stieg of Williston, ND, Josh Herner of Mott, ND and Christine (Jason) Wandler of New England, ND; 18 great grandchildren: Casey Kautzmann (Morgan Wilburn), Karlee (William) Litchfield, Alex, Ben, Anna and Brie Finneseth, Landon, Kennedy and Hadley Klein, Gianna and Lucca Guarcello, Colton and Echo Stieg, Tyler, Tyson and Trysten Herner, Brooklyn and Chase Wandler. one sister-in-law: Violet Klein, Lemmon, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Klein, her parents and four brothers and five sisters. Edna was the last surviving sibling.
A memorial has been established to Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
