DennisLeonardRoth was born to Benjamin and Freda (Nagel) Roth on September 1932, at Elgin, ND. He attended school in Elgin and was active in sports and was on State Champion Basketball Team in 1950. He graduated from Elgin Public School in 1951. After graduation he was drafted into the US Army and served two years, spending some of that time in Germany. He married Veryl Bleick on March 10, 1958. They had two children, Kevin and Cynthia.

Dennis worked for his father at Roth’s Ranch and Feedlot and eventually purchased it in partnership with his brother Kenneth. He took pride in his ability to plant straight rows of corn and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked seven days a week and was happy when the feedlot was updated to a more modern feeding system. He was a people person and enjoyed being involved in his community. He was active in the Grant County Historical Society, Church Council, Elgin Golf Club, and West River Teamsters. As member of the 7th Cavalry reenactment group, he rode horse to demonstrate the “Calvary Charge” at Fort Lincoln State Park. One of his happiest memories was riding as a Cavalry member in the Rose Bowl Parade (Pasadena, California) representing the North Dakota Centennial in 1989. He was also the chairman of the building committee for the new Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin. Dennis loved to golf, bowl, play horse shoes and darts. Dennis loved going to threshing shows with Kevin, Benjamin and Joseph.

Dennis is survived by his wife Veryl and children Kevin (Annette) Roth Elgin, ND and Cindy Roth Bottineau, ND; two grandsons, Benjamin Roth, Elgin, ND and Joseph Roth, Minneapolis, MN; sisters Jackie Seibel, Elgin, ND and Kim Heidelman, Peterborough, NH; brother-in-law Wayne Dettmann, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law Betty Luke, Whitefish, MT. and numerous nieces and nephews.
