Charlotte D. Uttke

Charlotte D. Uttke, 84, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Sanford Hospital.

Visitation was on Sunday, February 11, from 1-3:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E. Ave C., Bismarck. Burial was at 1:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Charlotte was born on October 20, 1939, in Elgin, North Dakota, to Jacob F. and Linda (Steinley) Adler.

On September 14, 1957, Charlotte united in marriage with Harold R. Uttke in Grant County, beginning a loving partnership that endured for over six decades. Together, they created a beautiful family and cherished four children, Wes, Michelle, Sharon, and Paul.

Throughout her life, Charlotte dedicated herself to being a loving and nurturing mother. As her children grew and pursued their own paths, Charlotte joined the public school system as a cook in the lunch program. Her passion for providing delicious meals brought joy to countless students.

Charlotte cultivated an impressive garden, growing an array of vibrant flowers and vegetables. She took pride in preserving her bountiful harvest through canning, ensuring that her family could enjoy the fruits of her labor year-round. Charlotte’s cooking talents extended beyond the school cafeteria, and her cheese buttons became a signature dish loved by her children and grandchildren.

Music and dance held a special place in Charlotte’s heart. She and Harold would frequently attend weekend dances. Charlotte was also an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Minnesota Twins and following football. However, her greatest joy came from supporting her grandchildren in their endeavors, attending their events and pridefully sharing their successes.

Charlotte had a passion for capturing memories through pictures, with her house adorned with countless photo albums chronicling treasured moments that her family enjoy.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold Uttke, Bismarck; children, Wes (Georgia) Uttke, Michelle (Dean) Holwegner, Sharon (Roger) German all of Bismarck and Paul (Nicole Lang) Uttke. Boise, ID. Seven grandchildren and their families, Trish (Ryan) Jacobs and their daughter Gabby, Desiree (Matt) Lokken and their daughter Eleanor “Lenny”, Dean “DJ” Holwegner, Jennifer (Moses Tamili) Holwegner and their children, Sima and Malosi, Allison (Andrew) Traiser and their sons, Weston and Jackson, Olivia German and Jakob German. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother, Lonny (Mary) Adler, sister- in-law June Adler and several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Linda Adler; mother and father-in- law, Emma and Rudy Uttke; stepmother, Hilda Adler; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Larry Holwegner and brother, Kenneth Adler.
