Homecoming festivities

Homecoming week has come to an end. From Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, students at Beach High School and Lincoln Elementary School had a busy week, filled with activities to celebrate the football and volleyball teams.
On Sept. 28, the homecoming coronation was held inside the gymnasium at the high school, recognizing the homecoming court and crowning the homecoming king and queen. Crowned as king was Sawyer Noll along with queen, Harley Feiring.
On Oct. 1, the pep rally showcased immense school spirit. Emceed by Sawyer Farstveet, grades 7-12 participated in fun activities to get the crowd hyped up. Dressed in either neon or construction worker attire, the crowd was a sea of green, orange and reflecting gear. More about the student’s dress up days and class competitions during homecoming week will be in an upcoming Buccaneer Buzz article.
At the pep rally, there was a “finish the lyrics game” where several students from each grade had to finish the lyrics of a song. Lined up on the south end of the gym, after Farstveet played a portion of a song, whoever was the first student to run to Farstveet, grab the microphone and finish the lyrics of the song was the winner. This game got many laughs from the audience. Farstveet and Ryen Noll even sung a duet toward the end of the game.
Another fun game at the pep rally was a rendition of ‘who’s most likely to...’
King Sawyer Noll and Queen Feiring sat in chairs in front of the bleachers, while a line of their closest friends and classmates stood behind and in between the two. Farstveet would present a ‘who’s more likely to...’ question to the group and the line of classmates would answer by standing behind either the king or queen. Some questions asked were “Who’s more clumsy?” or “Who is more likely to vote themselves for homecoming king/ queen?” Many responses were unanimous, with the group choosing King Sawyer Noll most of the time.
Concluding the pep rally, Senior Taya Feldmann led the classes in their iconic ‘Roller coaster rally’ where she instructed the group to sway left, right, up and down. Regular volleyball attendees have seen this school spirit act many times before.
Later on that day, the volleyball team held their home game against the Hettinger/Scranton Lady Nighthawks. Unfortunately, the Lady Buccaneers lost their game 3-2, by just two points in the fifth match. Read more about the Oct. 1 volleyball game on page 7.
The next day, the homecoming parade came down Central Avenue. Young spectators enjoyed the candies that flew from the cars as they drove past. Each high school class had their own float. The class of 2027, the seniors, came riding in on a horse-drawn chariot.
King Noll and Queen Feiring rode together on the king and queen car, wearing Noll’s #30 jerseys.
The home football game later that day gave Beach fans a lot to cheer about. With a resounding 66-46 win, Beach put the “home” in homecoming by taking home another big win. Read more about the football team’s Oct. 2 win on page 4.
The football team had to change out of their gear quickly though, if they wanted to make it to the homecoming dance on time. Hosted by the Golden Valley County FFA Alumni Chapter, the homecoming dance, which was held in the Blue Building at the Golden Valley County Fairgrounds, wrapped up the night. Seventh to 12th grade students from Beach, Golva, Medora and Wibaux were welcome to attend.
Overall, the 2026 Beach High School Homecoming week was enjoyed by many students, parents and community members.
