Storm youth football to begin fall of 2019
Anxious fourth-sixth grade students and their parents gathered at the Roosevelt Public School gymnasium Monday, May 6, to talk about the possiblity of a Storm Youth Football team.
“We had about 28 kids come out for the meeting,” said Flasher High School Athletic Director, Brian Nieuwsma. “We are one of the few communities that doesn’t offer a youth team. So, we decided to put the word out there and see if there was any interest.”
The large number of potential players was a great sign to Niewusma. “The goal of offering the youth team is to grow the love of the game at an early age and develop the skills they will need at the high school level.”
