The third annual Toy and Food Drive hosted by the Lefor Knights of Columbus
 will have drop-off locations in five communities this year through Dec. 12.

Toy and food drive shares holiday cheer

As the matriarch of a Bakken family, Julie Kelly, Regent, knows the hardship when a paycheck is wrenched away. Her family moved to Regent six years ago from the Grand Rapids, Mich., area, and lived through both oil boom and bust. That prompted her to start a toy and food drive across Hettinger County three years ago.
“We had some financial hardships after the first oil field bust,” Kelly says. That’s when she realized there are needs in the area that cannot be met through typical public assistance.
