In early May, 25-yearold John Wayne Iszler of Elgin confessed to Grant County Sheriff John Foss that he started multiple fires within Grant County. On July 16, Iszler appeared in South Central District Court in Carson with Judge James Hill presiding, for his preliminary hearing. Grant County State’s Attorney Grant Walker explained to the court that the State will be dismissing the case against Iszler as it will be taken over as a Federal Case. Sheriff Foss explained it has become a Federal case because the fire at Dakota Farm Equipment and West Acres fall into the category of “Interstate Commerce.” It is regulated by the federal government under Article I of the U.S. Constitution.
