Sheriff refunds additional fees to cities
The Grant County Sheriff’s Department has refunded an additional three months of policing contract fees to local communities. The total refunded to all entities was $91,698.77.
In November 2020, the sheriff’s department refunded five months of policing contract fees to Carson, Elgin and New Leipzig, passing along funds received through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The CARES Act is an economic stimulus bill passed by Congress in March 2020 in response to the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
